 This product saved my face from painful, embarrassing acne!!! Mar 18, 2011

I am 22 years old and have been pretty lucky to have had clear skin all of my life except for the occasional pimple or two during my time of the month. I have never struggled with serious acne until about 8 months ago. I don't know what happened, but one day I started getting a few pimples and then within a month I was breaking out all over my cheeks, forehead, and chin. It was really distressing because I had NEVER had this kind of painful acne before in my life. Before and during this time I didn't change anything in my diet, skincare routine, or environment so the only thing I could think of that caused the severe acne was maybe stress from school (other than that, I have no idea)?
I tried many different products to get rid of the acne, expensive ones and cheap ones...... none of them worked. I tried using them for a good period of time to make sure I let it take effect too (like, a month). I was really subconscious of my face b/c of the scars that were left behind and the extremely noticeable acne. Well, I went to visit my sister last x-mas and she had this scrub. I used it while at her place and my skin felt really good after that week, so I bought a bottle when I got home. I have been using it every time I'm in the shower and within a few weeks my acne was reduced and within a month about 90% of it was gone. It's been almost 3 months now and my acne is GONE, minus the occasional pimples again. I am sooooooooooo thankful for this product for saving my skin!!!! I'm still sad that I have all these scars left, but I'm hoping that they'll fade over time as I continue to use this exfoliator.
So, it has helped dramatically with my sudden acne onset, but I don't think it has done anything w/ my blackheads (as many people have stated). Also, after using this product you should MOISTURIZE your skin!! The beads are taking off dead skin cells, so the freshly exposed skin may be more prone to some moisture loss if just left there. MOISTURIZE it!!! Plus, it should more readily absorb whatever you're putting on it and be super soft afterwards. I would completely recommend this product for acne and smoothing out your skin (it's a great exfoliator) :]!!!

St Ives is a very good company that makes quality products for a good price. They also do their best to care about people and the environment, and that earns my respect. They do not test on animals, most of their packaging is to some extent recyclable, and they use many natural ingredients. Their products can be used by most people, even those with mildly sensitive skin.
The quality of this product, the St Ives Apricot Scrub, is no different. I had struggled with acne for years, and I have found this scrub to be the best over-the-counter solution to my problems. As I have used it, I have gotten fewer breakouts, and when I have had some, they have been much more mild. Also, believe it or not, regular use of this scrub resulted in some of my light scars disappearing. I think this is because it prevented bad acne, and this prevention gave my skin time to heal. It also dealt quite well with my skin's tendency to be either oily or dry. I also enjoyed the scent of the scrub.
Because the apricot beads are exfoliators, some people might experience dry skin from this product if they use too much or too often. If this is the case, I recommend the St Ives Green Tea Cleanser, which accomplishes the same results as this tried-and-true scrub, only more gently. Overall, this product is worth your buy.

I first started using the apricot scrub as a teenager. I'm 29 now, so it has been over a decade using this product. I have used the plain scrub, as well as the blemish control version and have liked them both.
Nothing works quite like it for my sensitive, dry skin. I use it daily and it never irritates me. My skin feels totally soft, smooth and clean after I'm finished. I use it in the shower because that's when your pores are most open.
From time to time I will try other cleansers, but I always come back to this one as my main beauty secret. Just recently I really switched up my routine, stopped using my St. Ives scrub and replaced it with some supposedly natural cleanser. My skin got progressively worse, with blackheads getting out of control. I finally got back into using the scrub and after only a few uses, the blackheads are diminishing and my skin just feels better.
I will never experiment again - I'm sticking to what works from now on.

I love this product. It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth after using it. I only use it once a week because it is pretty abrasive and my skin is pretty clear with the occasional blemish during that time of the month. It has a really pleasant smell.

This appears to help smooth the skin and prevent future breakouts, and seems to work well - but please St. Ives, take it easy with the fragrance - it's too strong!
