Fun for both boys and girls. Jan 21, 2009
By Dearbhail Melissa and Doug's Fill and Spill toolbox is a huge hit with both my granddaughter and grandson, 18 and 20 months of age, respectively. While the vibrating "power" drill was intriguing, they also enjoy "sawing" the Velcro-attached wood blocks apart and the other tools, too. I was very happy to find a safe and fun set of tools for young toddlers.

What could be better? Oct 25, 2010

2 granddaughters + 2 tool kits = two happy granddaughters.
I can't really rate the educational value until I see them framing a door or building a deck.

Fun for all! Feb 14, 2009

We got this for my son's first birthday. The first kit had a drill that was broken (it didn't vibrate like it was supposed to), so we exchanged it for a second. My son LOVES to play with and chew on the various tools. The saw, hammer, ad screw driver are soft enough that he can play with them without our worries, but have a firm shape. He giggles every time we "screw in a screw" on his knee. He also loves the vibrating drill.

Plastic Carrying Case Seems Dangerous Jan 09, 2010
By LCB We bought this for our toddler son, who immediately dumped the toys out and put the clear, flexible plastic carrying case over his face and head. I'm concerned that the toolbox could present a suffocation hazard to babies and small toddlers who may not be strong or coordinated enough to remove the case from their faces. The clear plastic is attractive and fun for babies to look through and the toolbox is just the right size to cover their faces completely.
I am a big fan of Melissa & Doug's products, but have noticed that they use this soft plastic material throughout the soft toy line that is marketed to babies and toddlers. We also have Monster Bowling, which has a similar case, but it is bigger and fits over my son's entire head. It can also be zipped closed, the prospect of which I find very frightening. It would be much safer if they designed the carrying cases out of fabric or mesh.

Nice toy Apr 29, 2011
By jkb1986 My son got this for his 1 year birthday. His favorite pieces are the screwdriver, saw and nails/screws. He will crawl around with them in his mouth and chew on the hard ends on the screwdriver and saw. My only concern is that the red die in the screw driver started to run and leak when he was drooling on the handle so I had to take it away.
