i ordered this because my son showed interest in the one at a business i go to. i like the idea because it seems like an amazing developmental toy. i read a million reviews for a dozen or more sold on amazon. i was afraid it was going top be really small, and it would end up being thrown around. plus, one review said that melissa & doug toys had red paint with arsenic. i called melissa & doug customer service and was laughed at for such a ridiculous question- of course they don't put poison in their paint. so i went ahead and bought this one.
i received it yesterday and i am completely satisfied with my purchase. it is a very good size and the metal wires are extremely heavy duty, so they will not bend. my son is 7 1/2 months and hits on things, to move them i guess. it is heavy enough that he can't pick it up and throw it. i definitely give this 5 stars!!!

My 1 1/2 year old son loves this. When he first got it he would sit on the floor and play with it for 20-30 minutes! Great buy!

This was one of my favorite toys growing up, so I bought one for my 7-month-old twins. One of them loves it and moves the beads all around. The other one moves the beads around some, but gets bored quickly (just like with everything else, ha) and proceeds to try to pick it up, which he finds very entertaining. He hasn't been able to pick it up yet though, so it gets 5 stars all around. Highly recommend!

First I think it is important to say that this product is made in China. It is a great toy, made of wood with wooden beads etc. But despite having a very American sounding company name (Melissa and Doug) it is not an American product. Why does this matter? Well, my daughter (10 months old) does try to bite the blocks and metal tracks. I know it says 1+ on the item, but I noticed many other reviewers buying this toy for a younger than 1 year old child. I am sure however, that in two months time, she will still try to bite the toy. If the product was made in America I might not be worried. But having been made in China, and knowing their low standards and the few and far in between product quality checks for baby toys coming from China... Well, play at your own risk.
Second, the toy comes with instructions on how to play with your child. Namely, you can name the colors with them, and get them to count the colors etc. I though this was very helpful, and my daughter has been enjoying learning. She can not move the beads along the tracks yet, but she can touch them and get them to spin around. I think this toy will be a favorite for years to come. My only regret is that I did not find one made in America.

Bought this toy for my 2 y.o. nephew. He goes to Montessori school and toys like that are not something new to him. However when he got it for his birthday, he left all the cool presents like helicopters and toy cars with the quickness and started doing "work" with his new maze. He doesn't get tired playing with it and can sit there playing for at least an hour, which is amazing on it's own, considering that it is quite hard to keep 2.o. attention for so long. He also always sings when he plays with it!
