Very well made puzzle and the dogs are adorable, but I think the manufacturer's recommended age (12-14) is more accurate than what Amazon listed(8+). I purchased this for my 8 year old. It's too difficult for her. I enjoy puzzles, but this one was going to be very, very time consuming to sort out. I gave it fewer stars b/c it is a better choice for an older child or an adult than what is suggested.

We are doing this with my husband and it's so much fun. Although challenging for a child, I still think it's doable in more time.

My family has done a puzzle at Christmas every year since I was a child... so probably at least 35 years. My wife is a dog lover so that's why I chose this puzzle for this year. Some of the reviews said it was difficult, and I can confirm that. This puzzle was by far the most challenging puzzle we've done in my life. There was a point in putting it together that we actually considering giving up, but then we pushed through and got past that. The trick for us was organizing the pieces by noses, mouths, and eyes, and then starting to assemble little pieces. WIthout that, there are so many pieces that look the same. We eventually got it done in about 3 days of family contributions and it will be glued and hung in the house as a treasure. So if you are up for a challenge, this is a great puzzle. If you want something easy, then probably not the best choice. My daughter had bought another Ravensburger 1000 piece puzzle for the holiday (not knowing I got this one). After we finished this one, she cracked that one open and we got it done in about 3.5 hours.

The product quality is very good. The size of the pieces is of regular size which helps to find pieces easier if they have fallen on the floor. I am pretty satisfied with buying this product.

As an actual puzzle fan, a 1,000 piece puzzle was actually way below the number of pieces I usually go for. But I got it as a present for my mom, who also loves puzzles and dogs.
The only con was that, the first hour into puzzling, we noticed that the puzzle was possibly missing a piece. We had the border of the puzzle all set up and a piece of the border was missing. A check on Ravensburger's website shows that they do not provide free missing piece services, which other puzzle companies do. I would even gladly pay for them to send me the missing piece! My mom said she looked all over the ground and inside the box and did not see it. Since we discovered the missing piece really early on and it wasn't inside her house, I can only assume that it somehow was missing during production. So now the completed puzzle will be missing a piece. Good thing it's on the bottom border and hopefully not conspicuous. But I would be more reluctant to buy Ravensburger puzzles in the future due to the issue with the missing piece.
But anyways, the actual puzzle is fairly easy. If you're used to doing 5,000+ piece puzzles, this should be no challenge at all. We probably finished this puzzle in five days of puzzling. The pieces do not all look the same if you have eyes and can match the pattern of the puzzle to the picture on the box. And it does take hours and hours to complete because it's a jigsaw puzzle, which requires patience and time. I would have given it five stars if not for the missing piece and the company's inability to provide missing piece service.
