5tips, pros and cons  Apr 18, 2010
By mark
these are one of the best hair clippers, but there are pros and cons to the andis masters.
THE PROS
1. very precise cutting
2.quiet clippers
3.more powerful than the oster fast feed

THE CONS
1.they are heavy clipper, so if you self cut your hair i hope you go to the gym because your arms might feel tired.
2. these clippers get extremely hot after 20 minutes of use.

I was naive to the fact that these clippers are really meant for professional barbers. this is the first time that i self cut my hair and i like the results.

PROBLEMS PEOPLE MAY HAVE

1. the clippers are making a clatter loud sound- you have to adjust the clippers by taking a flat head screw driver and i turning the SCREW on the side of the clippers CLOCKWISE until the clattering sound diminishes.
2.the andis masters are not cutting closer than you thought- tpye in youtube how to adjust andis master clipper, that will help.
3. oil the clippers. you get oil wth the masters. this preserves the clipper blades
4. OPTIONAL- by the disenfectant spray because it cools the blade if you spray it on the blade.

I hope this helped.

5Great Clipper  Dec 15, 2006
By sunshinestate consumer
This clipper is simply the best I have encountered. I have been cutting my own hair for 15 years and I have become quite good at it. This unit is sharp and precise. It is very solid and durable, in fact the entire thing is metal and aluminum. The motor is unbelievably powerful and is about average noise production. You can really feel the quality of this product once you hold it in your hand. It is expensive but judging on the past few weeks I have owned it, it will last me a lifetime. True, you have to buy the comb attachments separately, but they too are good quality with metal latch, durable and accurate design. Only the lower quality clippers will come with the attachments for the average Suzy Housewife.

2Was excited to receive, but very disappointed after first use  Mar 18, 2010
By A. Grover
I have been looking for a good pair of clippers to do fades. I have been doing fades on my own head for the past 12 years and always used the cheopo wahls ones that you can buy at target, never had a problem with them. I decided I wanted to get a professional type clipper so I got these. I just used them an hour ago for the first time and here is what I have experienced, and this is MY PERSONAL OPINION so you can take it how you want to:

1.) First, my biggest issue: The whole unit gets VERY VERY HOT, I mean to the point I cannot hold it anymore. And only after about 45 minutes do you start to notice that the heat is getting bad, the blades themselves took longer to get very very hot but I literally used a glove to finish my haircut today because I could not hold it. The unit is metal.
2.) Its noisy but all clippers are noisy, this is not a problem for me but still an observation. Not a big deal
3.) The clippers are very very difficult to keep a good grip on. The casing is metal with no rubber grips or any other material to hold it easier. Once you put a little oil on the blades, use the clippers for a while, eventually after switching the guides you will get some oil on your hands and once that oil gets onto the surface of the case, it feels like a bar of soap. Not very good when you are trying to cut hair, one slip and you have a bald spot where it shouldnt be.
4.) These things are annoyingly heavy. It is powerful so it has a heavy motor and I didnt think the weight would be a problem. But seriously, after using for a few minutes my arm was getting very tired, much quicker than when I used the cheap ones.

Overall, the actual cutting of the clippers is just average, no different than my cheaper clippers that I bought for $20. I am going to return these, not sure what I will get yet. Maybe a different pair of andis but I will have to look at the reviews to see if any of these problems mentioned will also come with other andis clippers.

5WORKS GREAT AFTER ADJUSTING. Don't worry bout the negative reviews  Apr 21, 2011
By Norv
I got my clippers and of course in the box, it gives you the details on how to adjust them so why are there reviews on clattering sound when all you have to do is adjust them? I did the adjustment and they sound just fine. My Oral B spin brush makes more noise than this clipper. It does get hot but what do you expect? ITS A MOTOR! It doesn't take 50 minutes to cut one person's hair. Just get the Andis Cool Care and it's fine. It's all about following the directions and taking care of them. If you don't take care of them and do the adjustments as stated, how can you expect it to work. Great clipper. Great power or torque. The only negative is that it's heavier than most clippers but by only about 1 lb. difference and I think I'm strong enough to hold a 1.8 lb. clipper.

4Reliable & great features  Mar 03, 2011
By Brandon Wilkerson
I had been looking for some clippers to use on myself as well as my regular customers so I have been checking out the reviews of various clippers. So I went with the Fademasters, the Phatmasters, and the Masters. The Masters are by far my favorite tool of the 3 to the point that I did my research and found out that all of the tools had the same motor but they just changed the casing and blade to have multiple products. I did not like the blade on the Phatmaster so i swapped it for the Master blade and I had myself 2 pairs of masters. I like how you can hear the actual hair cut as opposed to seeing it cut so you can attack the cut using multiple senses giving you an edge in fades and determining what length you would like to take the hair down to. However, I also use Oster products as well and they are superiorly powerful in juxtaposition of the Andis products. Your Andis produts will get hot and overheat if you're not efficient with your cutting techniques and use them continuously for long periods of time. So I combat this by using multiple tools for different stages of the cut. I rarely have to deal with the problem of not having enough time before the clippers get hot. The Oster Fast feeds are almost the same product as the Andis masters, except for the superior pivot motor, yielding more volts and more power for cutting through wet and thick hair. So although the Masters are my favorite tool for their features, I can't fully depend on them on their own, but they're definitely a great asset for every barber to have. And that's from a barber himself.
